The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was mobilised at 4:53 PM today to a report of a fire within an unoccupied commercial premises in Caponacre Industrial Estate in Cumnock.
The first attending appliance was from Cumnock Community Fire Station who made an initial attack on the blaze.
Quickly thereafter, the Incident Commander requested additional back up and currently there are five appliances and support vehicles on the scene with one high reach appliance being used as an observation platform.
A full investigation into the incident with be carried out jointly by Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Local residents are advised to stay inside their homes and keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke plume from the incident.
