On Monday 4th February 2013, Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary began ‘Operation Dulcet’, with an aim to target those who are actively involved in the supply of drugs in the region. The cultivation and supply of cannabis has been part of the operations focus.
The force-wide operation and has so far seen seven homes searched in Dumfries and Stranraer, with nine people searched and 14 drug related offences coming to light.
Drugs with a street value of over £7,000 have been seized, of which include heroin, cannabis and diazepam.
Detective Inspector Mark Carruthers of the force’s Drug Squad said, “Operation Dulcet is an intelligence led operation following information received from those living in our communities who have a concern about the scourge of illegal drugs in their neighbourhood. We commend the public for their assistance and would ask them to keep it up.”
