Flooding in Twynholm

As of 8:50 pm on Wednesday February 13th, Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Servce attended an incident of flood water entering properties at Captain Brae and Brun Brae, Twynholm – caused by the burn running through Twynholm bursting its banks and flowing into adjoining properties.

A Fire Appliance and Supervisory Officer were called to scene from Kirkcudbright. The Incident Commander evacuated the properties adjacent to the burn and assisted with pumping out flood water already flooding properties.

Council staff were requested to assist the Fire and Rescue Service with sandbags to deal with the water from the burn.

Due to the efforts of the crews and Council staff, the water was prevented from affecting further properties. The evacuated residents were then able to return to their homes after approximately two hours, and crews left the scene after approximately three hours.
